Mark Daniel Stuart (born April 27, 1984 in Rochester , Minnesota ) is an American ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with Adler Mannheim from the German Ice Hockey League . His brothers Colin and Mike are also professional ice hockey players.
Career
The 1.85 m tall defender first played for the Rochester Mustangs in the US junior league USHL , then moved to the support program of the national ice hockey association USA Hockey . During his college years, the left-shooter was on the ice for the Colorado College team in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association , a league in the NCAA's gaming operations . With the university, Stuart once reached the "Frozen Four", the final round of the championship of the NCAA, but there the "Tigers" lost to their rivals and eventual champions, the University of Denver . In the 2003 NHL Entry Draft , the American was finally selected as 21st in the first round by the Boston Bruins .
In 2004, Stuart could have switched to the Bruins organization, but due to the NHL lockout , this could not happen until the 2005/06 season . Initially, the defender was mainly used with the Providence Bruins , the Boston farm team in the American Hockey League , a knee injury prevented the American from getting more ice age in the NHL in the following season . The 2007/08 season spent Stuart exclusively with the Boston Bruins, where he signed a new contract in 2008. In February 2011 it was given over to the Atlanta Thrashers in a transfer deal . The defender stayed with the franchise even after moving to Winnipeg, where he was henceforth active for the Jets . Total spent six years in Stuart franchise Winnipeg Jets before the team paid him his remaining year of the contract in June 2017 (buy-out) and he therefore henceforth to be a free agent was looking for a new employer. In October 2017 he was finally signed by Adler Mannheim from the German Ice Hockey League until the end of the 2017/18 season .
