Colin Stuart (born July 8, 1982 in Rochester , Minnesota ) is a retired American ice hockey player . He completed 56 NHL appearances for the Atlanta Thrashers and the Buffalo Sabers and was on the ice in 634 AHL games, including winning the Calder Cup in 2008. His brothers Mark and Mike are also professional ice hockey players.
Career
Colin Stuart began his career as a hockey player with the Lincoln Stars , for which he was active in the United States Hockey League in the 1999/2000 season . The attacker then played for the Colorado College team for four years . During this time he was selected in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft in the fifth round as a total of 135th player by the Atlanta Thrashers . In the years 2004 to 2007 Stuart was exclusively in the squad of the Chicago Wolves , the farm team of the Thrashers from the American Hockey League , with whom he won the Calder Cup in 2008. From the 2007/08 season , Stuart was also on the ice for the NHL team of the Thrashers.
In July 2009 they transferred him to the Toronto Maple Leafs together with Garnet Exelby in exchange for Pavel Kubina and Tim Stapleton . In the same month, the Maple Leafs gave him to the Calgary Flames , for whose farm team Abbotsford Heat the attacker was active in the 2009/10 season . In August 2010, the free agent received a contract with the Buffalo Sabers , who first used him in the 2010/11 season with the Portland Pirates and in the following season with the Rochester Americans in the AHL. In September 2012, Stuart decided to move to Europe and went on the ice for the Iserlohn Roosters in the German Ice Hockey League in the 2012/13 season .
The following year, the attacker returned to North America and Stuart signed a contract with the Vancouver Canucks of the NHL. There the Canadian was only used in the farm team Utica Comets in the AHL, where he served as team captain in the 2013/14 season . For the 2014/15 season he moved to Europe again, this time Stuart decided to join the Swedish club Malmö Redhawks in the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan . After only 31 games there, he moved back to the AHL for the Providence Bruins during the current season . There he ended the 2014/15 season and then announced the end of his career.
