The 2012/13 DEL season was the 19th season since the foundation of the German Ice Hockey League , the highest league in German ice hockey . The season started with the main round on September 14, 2012 and ended with the fourth final game of the play-offs on April 21, 2013.

The Eisbären Berlin became champions, winning their seventh title.

After the season, Arena Hannover GmbH sold the Hannover Scorpions to Villingen-Schwenningen on May 24, 2013 , where they will compete in the DEL under the name of the previous second division club Schwenninger Wild Wings .

As in previous years, a double round was played. The best six teams qualified directly for the play-offs, the teams in places 7 to 10 play two more play-off participants in best-of-three series. The quarter-final series were played in the best of seven mode, the semi-finals and finals in the best of five mode.
