Yanick Lehoux (born April 8, 1982 in Montréal , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with the Assurancia de Thetford from the Canadian Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey .

Career

Yanick Lehoux first played for the Cap-de-la-Madeleine Estacades in a lower-class Canadian junior league, before he went on the ice for the Baie-Comeau Drakkar from the Québec Major Junior Hockey League from the 1998/99 season . In his second season he finished the regular season with a record of 92 scorer points in 67 matches and at the end of the season he won the Marcel Robert trophy as the QMJHL player who best combined sporting and school success. During this time, the striker was selected in the third round of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft at position 86 by the Los Angeles Kings . In the course of the 2000/01 season Lehoux finally established himself as one of the best scorers of the QMJHL and contributed 67 goals and 135 points to the playoff of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in the regular season. His 67 goals were the second best value in the league this season, only Simon Gamache was more successful with 74 goals. In the playoffs, Lehoux reached the third round with his team and was defeated in six games by the Acadie-Bathurst Titan .

Another season followed in the Canadian top junior league, in which Lehoux was again the most successful scorer of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar and took third place in the league's scorer list. At the end of the 2001/02 season he received a nomination for the Second All-Star Team of the QMJHL. With 382 points in 266 regular season matches, Lehoux also holds the franchise record of Baie-Comeau Drakkar as the most successful scorer. In the same season, the striker made his debut for the Manchester Monarchs , the farm team of the Los Angeles Kings, from the American Hockey League and completed an encounter in the playoffs. In the following three seasons he established himself as a solid center forward and surpassed the mark of 20 goals and 50 points for the first time in the 2004/05 season . After completion of the NHL lockout is Lehoux decided to leave the United States and agreed to a contract with the HC Servette Genève from the National League A . After seven games and just as many points, he was involved with league rivals EHC Basel , for which the Canadian played in four games and contributed two assists.

After only two months he returned to the Los Angeles Kings organization, which put him on the waiver list in November 2005 . From this he was selected by the Phoenix Coyotes and in the same season Lehoux ran for the first time for the Coyotes in the NHL and scored a goal. Before the end of November 2005, the attacker found himself on the waiver list again and this time was selected by the Los Angeles Kings. The Kings sent him to the Manchester Monarchs' farm team and at the trade deadline on March 9, 2006, he was transferred back to Phoenix in exchange for Tim Jackman . During the 2006/07 season , Lehoux set new personal career records when he contributed 31 goals and 42 assists in 72 AHL regular season games for the San Antonio Rampage , but missed the playoffs with the team. He also began the following season with the Rampage, before the right-handed shooter hired Atlant Mytishchi from the Russian Super League in November 2007 .

In July 2008 he was signed by the Montréal Canadiens and used the entire 2008/09 season in the farm team with the Hamilton Bulldogs . The Canadian then moved to Södertälje SK for the first time in Sweden , for which he was on the ice in the Elitserien . The striker began the 2010/11 season at HC Ambrì-Piotta before signing a contract with Södertälje SK in January 2011 that ran until the end of the 2011/12 season. After he with the team at the end of the regular season only occupied the eleventh and thus penultimate place in the Elitserien, the league was missed in the Kvalserien .

In July 2011 he was finally signed by Adler Mannheim from the German Ice Hockey League . The 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons were successful for Lehoux, he was able to establish himself as one of the strikers with the highest points within the DEL. After a sporting downturn in the 2013/14 season , the Adler decided to change coach, with the new head coach Hans Zach speaking out against further cooperation with Lehoux, so that in January 2014 he was released by mutual agreement until the end of the season. After he was initially without a club at the beginning of the following season, the Malmö Redhawks from the Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan took him under contract until the end of the season in December 2014 .
