Simon Gamache (born January 3, 1981 in Thetford Mines , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who is under contract with Thetford Mines Assurancia in the LNAH . He previously played for the Atlanta Thrashers , Nashville Predators , St. Louis Blues and Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League .
Career
Simon Gamache began his career with the Foreurs de Val-d'Or in the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec (LHJMQ), with whom he reached the 2001 Memorial Cup final, which was lost to the Red Deer Rebels . Gamache was named CHL Player of the Year , won the Michel Brière trophy for the player with the most points and the Guy Lafleur trophy . In the 2000 NHL Entry Draft , the Canadian was selected in the ninth round in 290th place by the Atlanta Thrashers .
His first professional season he spent half with the Greenville Grrrowl in the East Coast Hockey League , he was also used in 26 games with the Chicago Wolves in the American Hockey League . In the following season 2002/03 he was a permanent member of the Wolves squad and was appointed twice to the NHL roster of the Atlanta Thrashers.
In the 2003/04 season he played two games for the Thrashers, but was then transferred to the Nashville Predators in December 2003 together with Kirill Safronow in exchange for Ben Simon and Tomáš Klouček . However, he was only used in seven games with the Predators, instead he won the Calder Cup with the Milwaukee Admirals , scoring six goals and 18 assists in 22 play-off games . During the lockout - 2004/05 season , playing as many NHL players in the AHL, Simon Gamache reached 96 points scorer in 87 games - in the playoffs he scored six goals in seven games. At the beginning of the following season he was again not in the squad of the Predators, but continued to play in Milwaukee. At the end of November 2005, Gamache was signed by the St. Louis Blues after the Predators had put him on the waiver list.
For the 2006/07 season , Simon Gamache moved to the National League A at SC Bern , where he became a key player and top scorer (82 scorer points in 60 games), but failed in the playoff final at HC Davos . Because of the performance shown, he got an offer from the Toronto Maple Leafs and signed a two-year contract in June 2007. His first goal for the Leafs he scored on October 11, 2007 against the New York Islanders , but completed only eleven NHL games and otherwise played for the farm team, the Toronto Marlies , in the AHL.
On January 5, 2008, Gamache was added to the Maple Leafs' waiver list. A short time later he moved back to Bern and was awarded a three-year contract by SC Bern. In the 2009/10 season he won the Swiss championship with the Bernese . In February 2011, Gamache signed a two-year contract with Friborg-Gottéron , valid from the 2011/12 season. In September 2013 he was signed by Adler Mannheim , but returned to North America after a season and in October 2014 he joined the Isothermic de Thetford Mines from his hometown in the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey . In November 2014 he moved to Europe again, so Gamache decided to work with the Norwegian first division club Vålerenga Ishockey . In the 2015/16 season he played for the Vienna Capitals in the Austrian ice hockey league .
