The 1957/58 season of the ice hockey league was the tenth and last season of the league as the highest German ice hockey division before the Bundesliga was introduced the following year . German champion was EV Füssen , who won his sixth championship title in a row. Since only the first four teams in each group qualified for the Bundesliga, EV Landshut , EV Kaufbeuren , VfL Bad Nauheim and Cologne EK remained in the league after the season, which was now the second-highest division.

Preussen Krefeld won the DEV Cup , which was played out between the teams that did not qualify for the championship round .

As in the previous year, the preliminary round was played in two groups, group south and group west , in the form of a single round, so that each club played one home and one away game against the other teams in its own group. The clubs then qualified for the final round in places 1 to 3, and there was also the so-called DEV Cup round with the fourth to sixth placed teams in both groups.

For the 1958/59 season , the single-track ice hockey Bundesliga was introduced, for which the first four teams of the two preliminary rounds qualified. The remaining teams remained in the now second-rate league .
