Transfers

The reduction of the league size to ten teams, accompanied by the bankruptcy of VfL Bad Nauheim and, above all, the Berlin ice skating club , had a major impact on transfer activities . Alone from Berlin, Lorenz Funk senior moved to Riessersee, Dieter Hoja and Hannu Koivunen to Iserlohn, the brothers Martin and Hermann Hinterstocker to Düsseldorf, Matthias Hoppe and Karl Altmann to Schwenningen and Mike Schmidt to Mannheim. In Mannheim, three players from Bad Nauheim were brought in: Bill Lochead , Thomas Barczikowski and Ralph Pöpel . Mike Zettel moved from Hessen to Düsseldorf.

In Cologne they strengthened themselves with Marcus Kuhl and Peter Ascherl from Mannheim, the Riesserseer defender Peter Gailer , Rick Amann from Freiburg and Bill Nyrop , who came from the Minnesota North Stars from the National Hockey League . Ralph Krueger moved from Düsseldorf to Schwenningen and Udo Kiessling to Füssen. Uli Egen went the opposite way from the Allgäu to Brehmstraße, where Bob Murray and Milan Mokroš from Vitkovice also moved from Mannheim . In Rosenheim they strengthened themselves with Ernst Höfner from Riessersee, Manfred Ahne from Selb and Josef Klaus from Düsseldorf.
