As a player

In the summer of 1978 he moved from Canada to Germany to the Mannheim ERC in the Bundesliga as one of the first players to fall under the term German-Canadians. From the 1985/86 season he played for the Düsseldorfer EG , before he played again for the Mannheim ERC from the 1990/91 season . During the 1991/92 season he left Mannheim and moved to the upper league for the Frankfurt ESC , with which he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga . After he had actually already ended his career with the Frankfurt Lions in 1995 , he played again in the 1997/98 season for the Ratinger Ice Aliens in the Regionalliga NRW .

With the Mannheim ERC he became German champion in 1980 , which he repeated in 1990 with the Düsseldorfer EG.

Wolf was very popular with the fans during his active time in Mannheim . They gave him the nickname " Mannix " .

In the German national team, he played at the Winter Olympics in 1984 and 1988 and the Ice Hockey World Championships in 1981 , 1982 , 1983 , 1985 and 1987 .

As a trainer

As a coach he was under contract in Frankfurt, Ratingen , in Crimmitschau and at times in the Netherlands with the Eaters Geleen and the Dutch national ice hockey team .

From 2009 he was in charge of the ERV Chemnitz 07 "Wild Boys Chemnitz" men's team . In December 2011 he terminated his contract in order to act as project manager for a new ice rink in Leipzig . From the beginning of January 2012 he was initially interim trainer for the Icefighters Leipzig , but then received a contract until the end of the season and beyond. Ultimately, he looked after the Icefighters until the end of the 2014/15 season.

At the beginning of May 2015 Wolf was hired by the Heilbronner Falken as head coach and sports director. On February 1, 2016, the Falcons announced the split.
