Ice hockey hasbeen playedin Chemnitz since 1914 and is one of the traditional sports there. The EHC Chemnitz has represented the city in the Regionalliga Ost since 2014.
history
1990 to 2004
In 1990, the Chemnitz University Sports Association began playing, with the men temporarily taking part in the Bavarian regional league. In addition to the CRSC , the Chemnitz Ice Skating Club was founded in 1990 , and its team took part in games until 1994. Between 1994/95 and 1996/97 the men's teams of both clubs took part in the game as SG Chemnitz . After the EVC had to file for insolvency, the Chemnitzer Rollsportclub was founded in the USG Chemnitz to continue gaming operations .
2004 to 2008
On April 1, 2004, the CRSC left the USG Chemnitz and was re-established as the Chemnitz Ice and Roller Sports Club . The offspring of the CRSC was outsourced to the newly founded ESV 03 Chemnitz .
In 2008 the ESVC became a member of the ERC Chemnitz, which was also renamed ERC Chemnitz 07 .
2008 to 2012
In the first season of the new Oberliga Ost, ERV was one of the top teams in the league and in the end secured second place. This qualified the team for both the 2011/12 DEB Cup and the promotion playoffs to the 2nd Bundesliga. In the playoffs, the ERV failed to the favored teams from the Oberliga-West. In the end, the third place was achieved, as the ERV prevailed against the northern champions Rostock.
Now the chosen path should be continued in 2011/12. With five wins in six games, the start in the league was perfect. But then followed in December the bad news of a possible bankruptcy. In addition, trainer Manfred Wolf announced his move to the Icefighters Leipzig at the end of the year. Nevertheless, the team initially stayed on the road to success, but had to contend with many injuries. The Wild Boys played for 5th place until the last day, but then had to be content with seventh place. In the following round of the cup they played for the finals until the end, but just missed it in the end.
Realignment and renaming (from 2012)
After a difficult 2011/12 season, the sponsoring association ERV 07 realigned itself and increasingly relied on young players and a cooperation with second division club Dresdner Eislöwen and the ice pirates Crimmitschau . In the 2013/2014 season, André Dietzsch succeeded Torsten Buschman as coach, who acted as sporting director. After the end of the 2013/14 season, ERV 07 filed an application to open insolvency proceedings. In July 2014 a new association was founded with the EHC Chemnitz. The team organized by EHC with the nickname Chemnitz Crashers took part under Torsten Buschmann as a coach in the Regionalliga Ost . The youth teams were still organized by ESV 03 Chemnitz . The men's team was later reintegrated into ESV 03 Chemnitz eV, which has since reunited under the name Crashers and Young Crashers . In 2015, the U19 team was promoted to the second highest division DNL2 .
