Michael Betz (born February 19, 1962 in Landshut ) is a former German ice hockey player who played in the Bundesliga from 1980 to 1991 for EV Landshut , DJK SB Rosenheim and EC Hedos Munich .

Career

Betz began his career with his home club EV Landshut and played for the team in the Bundesliga for three years from the 1980/81 season . During this time he was a permanent member of the German junior national teams at three world championships. He played his most successful Bundesliga season in the 1982/83 season . With 21 goals and 19 assists, he had his share when Erich Kühnhackl's Landshut team won the German championship .

The following year he moved to DJK SB Rosenheim . There he was able to convince and drove with the German national ice hockey team to the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo . After a disappointing 1987/88 season in which he only got eight points, he moved to the second division promoted EC Hedos Munich . In the Bavarian capitals he was one of the strongest attackers alongside the Canadian players around top scorer Scott MacLeod and Doug Morrison. The team, peppered with former Bundesliga players, made it to the Bundesliga in its second season. In the 1990/91 season he played with the EC Hedos again in the Bundesliga, but he could not prevail. After fourteen games he moved to TSV Erding in the league , where he ended his career.
