Ewald Steiger (born September 7, 1962 in Landshut ) is a former German ice hockey player and coach , who during his career worked for EV Landshut , Düsseldorfer EG , EC Hedos Munich and EHC 80 Nuremberg in the ice hockey Bundesliga and German Hockey League played.
Career
From the 1981/82 season Steiger played for EV Landshut in the ice hockey Bundesliga . His greatest success there was winning the German championship in 1983. In the 1988/89 season, the striker moved to Düsseldorfer EG for a year . From 1989 to the middle of the 1994/95 season , he then ran for the EC Hedos Munich , which competed in the German ice hockey league under the name Maddogs Munich from the beginning of the 1994/95 season until the end of the game operations at the end of 1994 . In the spring of 1994 he celebrated his second German championship in Munich. For the rest of the season, Steiger joined the EHC 80 Nuremberg . From the 1995/96 season he turned his back on the top German league and let his career end with TSV 1862 Erding . Then he was employed as a trainer in the youth division of TSV Erding.
For the 2003/04 season, Steiger returned to EV Landshut and took over the post of junior head coach. Between 2003 and 2011 he looked after the junior team of the EV Landshut in the German junior league . In 2009 Ewald Steiger joined the Landshut Cannibals as an interim trainer in succession to the dismissed Mike Bullard, together with Günter Oswald .
Steiger has been the coach of the school team in the school league of EV Landshut since 2011.
International
Steiger played for the German national team and came to the Izvestia Cup in the 1987/88 season to two missions.
