Günter Oswald (born July 1, 1969 in Landshut ) is a former German ice hockey player and today - trainer and - functional . During his career he played for the Krefeld Pinguine , SC Riessersee , Berlin Capitals , EV Landshut , ERC Ingolstadt and Straubing Tigers in the German Ice Hockey League .
Career
Günter Oswald began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth team of EV Landshut , for whose professional team he was active in the Bundesliga from 1988 to 1993 . He then switched to their league rivals Krefeld Pinguine , with whom he also began the 1994/95 season in the newly founded German Ice Hockey League . In the 1995/96 season he played for the newly promoted team at SC Riessersee in the DEL. In the same year the SC Riessersee had to file for bankruptcy. The attacker then moved to the Berlin Capitals in the 1996/97 season . He started the season there and moved to his home club the Landshut Cannibals during the current season. 1997/98 Günter Oswald played for TSV Erding in the 2nd league (Hacker Pschorr League). In 1998/99 he played again in the DEL for the Kassel Huskies under the coach Hans Zach . After this season he returned to the Erding Jets and joined the team installed by Erich Kühnhackl for 2½ years . In 2000, the team initially made it to the 2nd Bundesliga but in 2001 had to be relegated to the top division again.
In the course of the 2002/03 season, Oswald was signed by his former club Krefeld Pinguine, with whom he then became German champion . There followed three years with their league rivals ERC Ingolstadt , as well as one with the Straubing Tigers , before the winger played again for Landshut for his home club from 2007 to 2008 and was only stopped in the final by the Kassel Huskies.
Following his playing career, Oswald took over on February 14, 2009 the coaching position at the Landshut Cannibals for the dismissed Canadian Mike Bullard , which he supervised until the end of the season. For the 2009/10 season, Landshut signed a new head coach, Tobias Abstreiter , whereupon Oswald was given the post of sporting director at the Cannibals.
In the 2009/10 season he dared a comeback and played for the Landshut Cannibals in the 2nd Bundesliga until 2011. He then ended his career at EV Moosburg .
International
For Germany , Oswald took part in the 1991 and 1995 World Championships .
