Bernhard "Bernd" Truntschka (born August 7, 1965 in Landshut ) is a former German ice hockey player who was a striker at EV Landshut and the Düsseldorfer EG for many years and was managing director of Landshut Cannibals from 2005 to 2012 . His older brother Gerd was also a professional ice hockey player.
Player career
Bernd Truntschka completed his first professional season in the 1982/83 season in the squad of the first team of his training club, the EV Landshut . In his first season he won the German championship with the team. In 14 games he got four points. In the following years, the left-handed shooter became more and more a regular player and exceeded his previous year's statistics every year until 1987/88 . During this season he got 40 points in 36 games - his best value in the top German division. After the 1988/89 season, the striker moved from the Isar to Düsseldorfer EG , with whom he became German champions in his first year. Truntschka was active for Düsseldorf for eight years, scoring a total of 141 goals and 314 assists in 674 games in the top German league .
After the 1996/97 season he turned his back on the DEL and slowly let his career come to an end at TSV Erding in the 1st ice hockey league in 1997/98 . In 55 games he scored 13 goals and 25 assists, before moving to the fourth-class 2nd ice hockey league the following season at EHC Waldkraiburg , where he was responsible for 22 goals and 44 assists in 46 games. After the season Truntschka officially ended his career as a player. After the financially-related restart of his home club in the third-class ice hockey league 2000/01 , he returned to his home club for six games before finally ending his professional career.
Achievements and Awards
The striker was German champion six times : he celebrated the first championship with his home club, EV Landshut, in his first professional season 1982/83 . This was followed by five championships with Düsseldorf in the 1990s ( 1990 , 1991 , 1992 and 1993 , and again in 1996 ).
International
Truntschka was active on the international level for the first time in 1983 when he scored eight points in five games at the European Junior Championships. With the German national ice hockey team he ran for the first time in 1988 at the Olympic Games . Then he was appointed to the German squad for two further Olympic competitions ( 1992 and 1994 ). In 20 missions he scored three goals and one assist. He also played in four ice hockey world championships ( 1990 , 1991 , 1992 , 1993 ) and scored five goals and seven assists in 32 games.

Later career
After finishing his playing career and studying business administration at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences and the Landshut University of Applied Sciences , he became a manager at EV Landshut. In 2005 he also became managing director of LES GmbH, the Spielbetriebs-GmbH of Landshut Cannibals .
