Ignaz "Naz" Berndaner (born July 4, 1954 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , Germany ) is a former ice hockey player and coach who played in the ice hockey Bundesliga from 1971 to 1992 for SC Riessersee and EC Hedos Munich .
Career
Ignaz Berndaner made the leap into the Bundesliga team of SC Riessersee in 1971 at the age of 16 . Two years later, still 17 years old, he was part of the German national team for the 1973 World Cup in Moscow . When a number of players left SC Riessersee to the north prior to the 1974/75 season , Berndaner also agreed with the Düsseldorfer EG on a change, but the SCR stood cross and prevented a further weakening of the team. Until 1979 he played all world championships, the highlight was certainly the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Innsbruck . In 1978 he won his first German championship with SC Riessersee and in 1981 he was able to repeat that with his team. In the club and in the national team, he was characterized by his solid style of play. However, he always remained tied to his home country and at the beginning of the 80s did not participate in the World Cup in order to have more time to build his house. At the World Championships in 1982 and 1983 he was back on board and after the Olympic Games in Sarajevo he ended his international career with 177 games and 19 goals. In the Bundesliga things went down with SC Riessersee, and while Berndaner had turned down lucrative offers and remained loyal to his team, there was now trouble with the club's management. Berndaner would have gone to the second division with SC Riessersee after relegation in 1987, but the disputes with those responsible were too big and so he moved to the state capital to EC Hedos Munich . Here, too, he played in the second division for two years, but while the stadium in Garmisch was largely empty, in Munich they played to a sold out house. With him, the EC Hedos rose to the Bundesliga and he played another 3 years in the highest German league before ending his active career in Munich in 1992 .
In 1976 he received the Silver Laurel Leaf for his athletic achievements.
As a junior coordinator and assistant coach, he moved back home to SC Riessersee and took over the team as head coach in 1993. For four years he was a trainer at ERC Ingolstadt . In 2000 Berndaner took over the women's selection at the DEB . In 2002 an engagement with the Eisbären Regensburg followed and in 2004 with TSV Peißenberg . In the 2005/06 season he coached the Bayern league team of EA Schongau , then the league rivals Wanderers Germering .
