The 1949/50 season of the ice hockey league was the second season of the highest German ice hockey league . The league was organized by the German Ice Sports Association (DEV) , which was re-established in 1949 . The German champions became the SC Riessersee . The HC Augsburg had to relegate from the league , due to the increase in the league to twelve teams, the Düsseldorfer EG , HTHC Hamburg , WSV Braunlage , Berliner SC and EC Bad Tölz rose.
requirements
Attendees
The league was increased by two teams, whereby in the promotion games in spring 1949 the EV Tegernsee and in the qualifying games decided in summer 1949 in autumn 1949 the Cologne EK and the Krefeld EV prevail.
- HC Augsburg
- VfL Bad Nauheim
- EV Füssen (defending champion)
- Cologne EK
- Krefelder EV (promoted)
- Prussia Krefeld
- SC Riessersee
- EV Tegernsee (promoted)
mode
As in the previous year, the teams played a single round, so that each club played a home and an away game against the other teams. In contrast to the previous season, however, there was a direct relegation this year. Since the league was to be increased to twelve clubs for the following season , the promotion games that had been postponed to autumn 1950 due to weather conditions were omitted and the teams from northern and western Germany reported by the regional associations moved directly to the league. Since with the SG Mannheim the representative of Baden-Württemberg renounced a playoff, the EC Bad Tölz also rose directly to the top division.
