The German ice hockey championship in 1931 was the 15th edition of these championships .
The preliminary round took place on January 17 and 18, 1931 on the Riessersee near Garmisch-Partenkirchen . The final was played on January 21, 1931 in the Berlin Sports Palace .
In the preliminary round, the East Prussian representative VfB Königsberg managed a surprising victory against the hosts SC Riessersee . Königsberg was the first team in the final of a German championship that did not come from Bavaria or Berlin. In the final, the Königsberg team led after a third against the defending champion Berliner Schlittschuhclub , but ultimately lost a lot.
Attendees
Up to two teams per sub-association could take part:
- Brandenburg Ice Sports Association:
- Berlin ice skating club (defending champion)
- SC Brandenburg (after qualification)
- Bavarian Ice Sports Association:
- Southwest German Ice Sports Association :
- Regional Association of East Germany (East Prussia):
In Berlin, the championship could not be played to the end because work was being carried out in the Berlin Sports Palace and the weather was too mild for a championship on natural ice. The Brandenburg Ice Sports Association therefore decided to play second place next to the defending champion Berlin Ice Skating Club in a qualifying game:
SC Brandenburg |
8: 1 | SC Charlottenburg |
The SC Brandenburg could not travel to the preliminary round, so that only one game was played in Group A.
