William Alexander Lochead (born October 13, 1954 in Forest , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player and coach and currently active as a player's advisor.
Career
Lochead began his career in 1971 in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League with the Oshawa Generals . After his first season was plagued by injuries, he was able to convince in the following two years. Through these performances, the Detroit Red Wings became aware of him, to which he finally moved to the 1974/75 season.
As a rookie in the NHL , he scored 16 goals. In the following seasons he was able to improve his performance. After a two-month injury break, he could no longer call up his performance from previous years. That's why the Red Wings put him on the waiver list . From there he was committed in the 1978/79 season by the Colorado Rockies . There played the remaining 26 games of the season and then moved to the New York Rangers . With the Rangers he completed seven NHL games and was mainly active with the New Haven Nighthawks in the American Hockey League .
At the beginning of the 1980/81 season he was signed by the Kölner Haie . After 17 games he was transferred to ESV Kaufbeuren . He finished the season with 43 goals in 39 games. During the summer break he went to EC Bad Nauheim . Despite his 66 goals and 34 assists, his team could not qualify for the playoffs. Thanks to his performance, he was voted the most valuable player in the league. After the season he went to the Adler Mannheim , where he played until 1984 and then returned to EC Bad Nauheim. With the exception of two brief engagements at EHC Chur in Switzerland and the Vienna Capitals in Austria, he was in the squad at EC Bad Nauheim until he retired in 1988.
Coaching career
After his career ended, Lochead decided to work as a coach. He trained the Ratinger Löwen , Frankfurt Lions , Kassel Huskies and the EHC Wolfsburg and the ECD Sauerland , among others . His coaching career ended as an assistant coach in Frankfurt. Today he is a player's agent and lives in Ober-Mörlen near Frankfurt am Main .
