Robert "Bob" Murray (born October 17, 1951 in Calgary , Alberta ) is a former German - Canadian ice hockey player and coach .

Career

After a few years in Canadian university hockey, Bob Murray moved to SC Riessersee for the 1976/77 season . Here the defender quickly became a fixture. During the championship season 1977/78 of the Garmisch Club he became a national player and played with the German national team at the 1978 World Cup in Prague . He was also in the squad at the World Championships in Moscow in 1979 and in Gothenburg in 1981 .

After the 1979/80 season he moved to the 2nd Bundesliga at ERC Freiburg , with whom he was promoted to the Bundesliga . After one season he left the Breisgauer and played in the 1981/82 season at Mannheim ERC and then moved to Düsseldorfer EG . After a few months he left DEG and returned to SC Riessersee. From the 1984/85 season he played three seasons for EC Bad Nauheim in the 2nd Bundesliga and returned to the top division for the 1987/88 season at EV Landshut . After 23 games this guest appearance was over and at the end of 1987 he returned to SC Riessersee, where he ended the season. After a season with the EV Pfronten in the league , he ended his career.

In the seasons 1989/90 and 1990/91 he coached the second division club ESC Wolfsburg . In the following season he was replaced by Jorma Siitarinen . After his sporting career, he returned to the vicinity of Calgary and worked there as a teacher.
