The first game of the SCW team took place in 1936 against Holzkirchen. After the Second World War , the ice hockey department was reactivated and took part in league games. As Bavarian and German second division champions in 1953 (winner of the second division tournament) you rose to the highest German ice hockey league , the Oberliga . Even if it was at the bottom of the table, the team was able to hold out in the big leagues for five years. The best placement in 1957/58 was 4th place in the group south, with which one qualified for the then newly founded first Bundesliga season, for which in 1958 the ice hockey department of TSV 1880 Starnberg merged with the SC. In Weßling they played on natural ice. Plans to build an ice rink on the grounds of TSV Starnberg, such as the conversion of the natural ice into an artificial ice stadium, were not implemented. For training and for the games that could not be held in the Weßlinger Stadium, they initially avoided the Munich Prinzregentenstadion . After the stadium, which was converted from natural ice to artificial ice, was opened in Landsberg, approx. 30 km away, in 1955 , the team moved there - also for the home games that were not held in Weßling. On the fifth match day of the first Bundesliga season, the team achieved its first and only victory in the Bundesliga. The Düsseldorfer EG was defeated 6-2 . The two national players from Weßling, goalkeeper Wilhelm Edelmann and his brother Toni , who scored two goals, played a key role in this victory. After relegation, the Edelmanns switched to EC Bad Tölz and the Weßlinger team was disbanded.
From the 1961/62 season , in which Weßling was runner-up in the group south, the SC played as a founding member of the group league and later also in the regional league in the third division. The derby games against ESV Herrsching generated great audience and media interest at that time . After the Regionalliga 1965/66 , the team rose from the higher-class league hockey. It was later played in the natural ice Bavarian league organized by the BEV until 1984 , after which the team stopped the games and training operations that had been carried out in the natural ice stadium at Karpfenwinkel.
Later there was still a team organized as a hobby under the umbrella of SC Weßling, which last took part in the games for the Raiffeisen Cup in Buchloe in 2008/09 .
successes
Handball department
Originally founded in 1981 at SC Wörthsee, the department moved to Weßling in 1987 due to the situation in the hall.
Frisbee department
The team name UltimateAmSee is derived from the beginnings in Herrsching am Ammersee . A few players met there in the summer of 2003 and also tried the Ultimate variant . The Weßlinger sports hall has been available as a training location since the 2004 winter season and so the team is now a department of SC Weßling. At the German indoor championships she has been playing in the 1st Open League since 2015 and in the 2nd South Mixed League since 2018.
