history
Promotion to the group league (1960 to 1966)
The most successful time of ESV Herrsching was in the 1960s, when the derby games against EA Würmsee in Feldafing or SC Weßling were watched by up to 800 spectators. The Herrsching team rose in 1961 from the Bavarian State League to the newly introduced third-class group league and was thus also a founding member of the league. The best placement during group league times was 1963, when the ESV took 4th place. In the 1965/66 season , the group league was renamed the Regionalliga . That was the last season in the third division of the Herrschinger, as the ESV finished in 7th place and thus had to relegate to the now fourth class regional league , together with the sixth-placed rival from Weßling .

In the period that followed, the Ammerseers had put together a good team again and were well prepared for the 1968/69 season after the championship title, which was unbeaten in the 1967/68 season. Then everything turned out very differently. In May 1968 it was announced that the ice hockey department of the ESV will be dissolved. The entire ESV team and the youth players joined FC Bayern Munich , whose ice hockey team was playing in the Bundesliga at the time and for which the ESV team was supposed to play as 1b. In exchange for the transfer, FC Bayern paid ESV 15,000 DM. Werner Hager, Georg Aschbichler and Nikolaus Welte were taken over from the Herrsching players in the FCB Bundesliga team . In the following season the ice hockey department of Bavaria was dissolved for cost reasons. Within a year, in Herrsching and at FC Bayern, games at the association level were stopped.
Ice rink
The home arena of ESV Herrsching was the natural ice stadium in Herrsching, which could hold up to 800 spectators and was located between the old and the new football field. The stadium is no longer in operation today. The construction of an ice rink on the designated property on Seefelder Straße was rejected by the responsible district administration due to problems with the entry and exit for road traffic.
