Mads Christensen (born April 2, 1987 in Herning ) is a Danish - German ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with EHC Red Bull Munich from the German ice hockey league . He is the only player in DEL history to have achieved three championship titles with two different clubs.

Career

Mads Christensen started ice hockey at the age of four in the youth department of the Herning Blue Fox . In 2002 he made the leap to the pros in the Danish AL-Bank Ligaen . At the age of 15 he played six professional ice hockey games and was able to celebrate the Danish championship in 2003. For the next two years, the striker continued to play in the junior division and in the second team of the Blue Fox. From the 2005/06 season he was also able to achieve regular scorer points. By 2008 Christensen was able to win four titles in six years with the Herning Blue Fox. For the 2008/09 season he moved to SønderjyskE Ishockey and beat his former team from Herning in the final of the play-offs . What was remarkable about this championship was that his team was temporarily in last place during the season. The attacker was also voted Danish Player of the Year and the League's All-Star Team . In the 2009/10 season Christensen was under contract with the Iserlohn Roosters . In his first outing for the Sauerland team, he scored two goals and two assists, including the winning goal by penalty to 6: 5. He was then voted the best player in the game. Initially, the Dane played alongside the brothers Daniel Sparre and Kris Sparre . In the further course of the season he also led the scorer ranking of the DEL and slipped into the first row to the league-wide known duo Michael Wolf and Robert Hock , with whom he already played in the power play . Christensen played less conspicuously there, but managed to become the third-best scorer for the Iserlohn team.

For the 2010/11 season Christensen will move to the Eisbären Berlin within the DEL . In preparation for the season he and his new team won the first edition of the European Trophy . In the DEL, he immediately won his first German championship title with the Eisbären Berlin . He was able to repeat this success with the capital city in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons . In 2014 he moved to EHC Munich  and became German champions with the team in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

At the beginning of September 2017, Christensen took on German citizenship.

After an injury in November 2019, Christensen did not play a game until March 2020 and then did not receive a new contract with the EHC.

International

Christensen played for the Danish national youth team for the first time in 2004 and was active in five junior world championships until 2007. He then played for the senior team and has so far participated in the A World Championships in 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 and 2011 .
