Hördler in the jersey of the Eisbären Berlin

Frank Hördler already played ice hockey in his youth at ERC Selb . He gained his first experience in professional ice hockey in the 2001/02 season at ERC Selb in the major league . There the left shooter also played in the following season , which went better for him, but he was only able to prevent relegation with the team in the relegation round. For the 2003/04 season , the offensive defender moved to the Eisbären Berlin , where he was given a production license . Nevertheless, he was used in the first year exclusively in the DEL team of the capital city and only played in the play-offs for the regional league team, with which he made it to the top division. In the two following seasons he was only used sporadically in the 2nd team and spent large parts of the seasons in the DEL, where he won seven German championships with the polar bears in 2005 , 2006 , 2008 , 2009 , 2011 , 2012 and 2013 . In 2010 he won the European Trophy with the polar bears.

International

Hördler played at the U-18 World Cup in 2002 for the first time for a DEB selection, with which he was relegated. A year later, he just missed direct re-promotion with the team. With the junior selection, he made promotion from the 1st division at the 2004 Junior World Championships . He also rose with the senior national team , in his first tournament appearance for selection, at the Division I World Cup in 2006 .

As a result, Hördler played at the World Championships in 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , 2013 , 2014 and 2017 . The best placement was fourth place at the home World Cup in 2010. The defender also successfully qualified for the 2010 and 2018 Winter Olympics . After not being part of the German Olympic squad at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , he played his first Olympic Games at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang . He completed this by winning the silver medal.

For this success he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf on June 7, 2018.
