Landon Ferraro (born August 8, 1991 in Trail , British Columbia ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Eisbären Berlin in the German Ice Hockey League since October 2019 . His father Ray Ferraro was also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
Landon Ferraro was initially active in various lower-class Canadian junior leagues before he was selected in the first round in second position by the Red Deer Rebels in the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft . For this, the attacker made his debut in the course of the 2006/07 season in the Western Hockey League , with Ferraro in his rookie year in a total of five games remained unpunished. In the following two seasons he was able to improve continuously and, after 24 scorer points in the 2007/08 season, scored 55 scorer points in 68 games in the following season. He was then placed in the rankings of the Central Scouting Service in 18th place among the North American outfield players and selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2009 in the second round as a total of 32nd player by the Detroit Red Wings .
The striker also spent most of the 2009/10 season with the Red Deer Rebels, posting 46 points in 56 games. In the same season he also played two games for the Grand Rapids Griffins , the farm team of the Detroit Red Wings, in the American Hockey League . These had previously signed the Canadian by means of an amateur tryout (ATO). In the 2010/11 season Ferraro went back to the Western Hockey League on the ice and was team captain at the Everett Silvertips , which had acquired him before the start of the season in a transfer deal with the Red Deer Rebels. During the same season, Ferraro signed a three-year entry contract with the Detroit Red Wings, for whose farm team, the Grand Rapids Griffins from the American Hockey League, he ran again during the 2011/12 season.
In March 2014, Ferraro made his debut in the NHL. In the 2015/16 season he first established himself in the NHL squad of the Red Wings and came to ten missions by November 2015 before he was signed by the Boston Bruins via the waiver . Ferraro ended the 2015/16 season there, but did not receive a continuing contract in Boston. As a result, he joined the St. Louis Blues as a free agent in July 2016 , where he worked for the AHL farm team, the Chicago Wolves . In the same way, the attacker moved to the Minnesota Wild in July 2017 , where he was active until the summer of 2019.
In October 2019 he was signed by Eisbären Berlin from the German Ice Hockey League .
International
For the Canadian national team , Ferraro took part in the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2008 and the U18 Junior World Championship in 2009 . In both tournaments, the center remained without winning a medal.
