The 2012/13 season was the 57th season of the Ekstraliga , the highest Polish ice hockey division , and the 78th edition of the Polish ice hockey championship. KS Toruń withdrew his team after 14 completed games from the league.
In the main round each of the seven teams remaining after the withdrawal of KS Toruń played a total of 38 games. All seven teams qualified for the playoffs, in which the champions were played, with the first-placed in the main round qualified directly for the playoff semifinals. The three losers in the first playoff round then competed in a placement round for places 5-7. Each team received three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after overtime or shootout, one point for a defeat after overtime or shootout and zero points for a defeat after regular time.
