The 2001/02 season was the 67th season of the Polish Ice Hockey League , the highest Polish ice hockey division . Master was for the sixth time in the club's history Unia Oświęcim . Polonia Bytom withdrew his team prematurely from the game and was thus determined as relegated.

In the main round, the eight teams should complete a total of 42 games, but the game plan had to be changed after Polonia Bytom's elimination, which was therefore determined as relegated. The four best-placed teams qualified for the playoffs in which the champions were played out. Each team received three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after overtime, one point for a tie and defeat after overtime and zero points for a defeat after regular time.
