The 1983/84 season was the 49th season of the Polish Ice Hockey League , the highest Polish ice hockey division . Polonia Bytom became champion for the first time in the club's history . BKS Bydgoszcz was relegated to the 2nd division.

mode

First, the ten teams spent a common main round. The six best-placed teams qualified for the final round, whose participants all qualified for the playoffs in which the champions were played off. The other four teams played a qualifying round, the top two of which also qualified for the playoffs. The last two finishers in the qualifying round then met in a play-off to stay in the league. The results from the main round were carried over to the final or qualifying round. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
