The 1987/88 season was the 53rd season of the Polish Ice Hockey League , the highest Polish ice hockey division . Polonia Bytom became champion for the third time in the club's history . ŁKS Łódź rose to the 2nd division.

mode

First, the ten teams spent a common main round. The six best-placed teams qualified for the final round, whose participants all qualified for the playoffs in which the champions were played off. The other four teams played a qualifying round, the top two of which also qualified for the playoffs. The last two placed in the qualifying round then met in the relegation. The results from the main round were carried over to the final or qualifying round. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
