GKS Tychy is a Polish ice hockey team from Tychy , which was founded in 1971. The ice hockey department belonging to the sports club of the same name plays in the Ekstraliga . The club has won the Polish Championship five times and has won the Polish Cup eight times , most recently in 2017.

history

The club's first ice hockey team plays in the Ekstraliga , the country's highest professional league. All ice hockey home games are played in the Zimowy stadium in Tychy, which has a capacity of 2,750 . In the 2006/07 season, the ice hockey team reached the play-off finals after finishing second in the regular season , but there they failed with a 1: 4 to KS Podhale Nowy Targ . In the 2007/08 season, the team was runner-up after a 2-0 defeat in the final game against KS Cracovia . Around the rivals from Krakow they failed in the final with 1: 4 in the 2010/11 season and thus only won the runner-up. In 2014 the Silesians were even able to win the main round of the Ekstraliga and, after victories over Polonia Bytom and Aksam Unia Oświęcim , reached the championship final again, but failed again, this time with 2: 4 wins against KH Sanok . In the following year, however, you could win the second championship in the club's history. In addition, the Polish ice hockey cup was won for the sixth time. In 2016 and 2017 the club again won the cup competition. The third championship was celebrated in 2018, the following year there was the fourth success.
