Ciarko KH 58 Sanok is a Polish ice hockey team from Sanok , which was founded in 1958 and last played in the Ekstraliga until 2016 .

history

The KH Sanok was founded in 1958 as RKS Sanoczanka and has since changed its club name several times. After just two years, the team adopted the name Stal Sanok , which it kept until 1991. Other names were STS Sanok , STS-Autosan Sanok , SKH Sanok and, since 2001, KH Sanok . After relegation from the Ekstraliga in the 2000/01 season as eighth in the table, it took two years to rise again as runner-up in the first division in the 2002/03 season. With the exception of the first season after the recovery, in which they finished second, Sanok was initially one of the weaker teams in recent years and always played for 7th to 9th place of the ten participants. Only when the Polish international strikers Krystian Dziubiński and Tomasz Malasiński joined the team from the Subcarpathian Mountains in 2010 did this change. In 2011 the Polish Cup competition was won for the first time . A year later not only succeeded in defending the title in the cup, but also winning the championship title in the Ekstraliga. In 2013 the regular league season could be won, in the playoffs Sanok failed in the semifinals at KS Cracovia from Krakow . In the following year it was only enough for second place in the main round, but in the final of the playoffs the main round winner GKS Tychy was defeated, so that the team won their second championship title. After the 2015/16 season, the team withdrew from the game.

The club has been taking part in the 2nd division of Slovakia (third highest division) since 2017 .
