The 2011/12 season was the 56th season of the Ekstraliga , the highest Polish ice hockey division , and the 77th edition of the Polish ice hockey championship. Ciarko PBS Bank Sanok became champions for the first time in the club's history . MMKS Podhale Nowy Targ was relegated to the 2nd division.

Attendees

After the withdrawal of Stoczniowiec Gdańsk and KTH Krynica for financial reasons, the Ekstraliga of the 2011/12 season consisted of eight teams, including the promoted KS Toruń and the reigning champions KS Cracovia .

In the main round, each of the eight teams played a total of 42 games. The four best-placed teams qualified for the playoffs, in which the champions are played out. The remaining four teams played playdowns. Each team received three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after overtime or shootout, one point for a defeat after overtime or shootout and zero points for a defeat after regular time.
