The 1973/74 season was the 39th season of the Polish Ice Hockey League , the highest Polish ice hockey division . Podhale Nowy Targ became champions for the sixth time in the club's history . GKS Tychy and KTH Krynica were relegated to the 2nd division.

In the main round, each of the ten teams played a total of 36 games. The first place in the main round was champion. The last two in the main round were relegated to the 2nd division. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
