The 1968/69 season was the 34th season of the Ice Hockey League , the highest Polish ice hockey division . Podhale Nowy Targ became champions for the second time in the club's history . Włókniarz Zgierz was relegated to the 2nd division.

mode

The ten teams initially contested a common main round. The four best-placed teams in the main round qualified for the final round, in which the champions were played out. The other six teams played in the relegation round to avoid relegation, with the last-placed team being relegated to the second division. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
