Krzysztof Zapała (born February 11, 1982 in Nowy Targ ) is a Polish ice hockey player .
Career
Club
Krzysztof Zapała began his career in his hometown with Podhale Nowy Targ . For the Polish record champions he was on the ice more than 350 times in the Ekstraliga . In 2007 and 2010 he was national champion with the Malopolska , in 2004 and 2005 he won the cup competition and in 2004 the multinational Interliga . In 2010 he moved to KH Sanok in the Subcarpathian region . There he was cup winner in 2011 and 2012 and also a Polish champion in 2012. In the cup final of the 2011/12 season he converted the decisive penalty to a 3-2 win against Aksam Unia Oświęcim . In 2013, Zapała switched to the newly promoted KTH Krynica , which he left in late autumn of the same year to return to KH Sanok, with which he was again Polish champion in 2014. In 2015 he returned to his home club in his hometown.
International
For Poland, Zapała took part in the junior division of the U18 B World Cup in 2000 and the Division I tournaments of the U20 World Championships in 2001 and 2002 .
In the senior category, the striker was in his country's squad at the World Championships in Division I in 2008 , 2009 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , when he, as the best assist provider of the tournament, made a significant contribution to the promotion of Poles to the A group of Division I, 2015 , 2016 , when he was again the best preparer, 2017 and 2018 . He also played for Poland in the Olympic qualification for the Games in Vancouver 2010 , the Games in Sochi in 2014 and the Games in Pyeongchang in 2018 , when his goal to 1-0 in the penalty shootout against Hungary opened the door to the second qualifying round for Poland.
