Tomasz Malasiński (born August 23, 1986 in Nowy Targ ) is a Polish ice hockey player who has been under contract with GKS Katowice in the Ekstraliga since 2017 .

Career

Club

Tomasz Malasiński began his career in the youth academy of the Polish ice hockey association Szkoła Mistrzostwa Sportowego in the second-class I league , for which he played until 2005. After a year at the Upper Silesian JKH GKS Jastrzębie , who was also playing in the I league at the time, he moved to the Polish record champions Podhale Nowy Targ in his hometown of Lower Poland in 2006 . With Podhale he was Polish champion in 2007 and 2010 . Shortly after the start of the 2010/11 season, he left Nowy Targ and hired the league competitor KH Sanok . The change immediately paid off for the team from the Subcarpathian Mountains : The Polish cup competition was won for the first time in 2011 . A year later, Sanok could not only defend this title with Malasiński, but also win the Polish championship title for the first time in his club's history. In the summer of 2013 he switched to the Ekstraliga promoted KTH Krynica , which he left in December of the same year to join the GKS Tychy . With the Silesians he was Polish runner-up in 2014 and then moved to the Swindon Wildcats in the English Premier Ice Hockey League , the second highest British division. After three years on the British Isles, he returned to Poland and joined the Ekstraligist GKS Katowice .

International

For Poland, Malasiński took part in the junior division in Division I of the 2004 U18 World Junior Championship and the 2005 U20 World Junior Championship .

He made his debut in the men's national team at the Division I games of the 2009 World Cup . In the following years, Malasiński represented his colors at the Division I tournaments of the 2010 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2015 , 2016 World Championships , when he had the best plus / minus balance of the tournament and, together with the South Korean Michael Swift, also top scorer of the Tournament was in 2017 and 2018 . He also played for Poland in the qualifying tournaments for the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014 and in Pyeongchang in 2018 .
