Paweł Dronia (born June 30, 1989 in Opole ) is a Polish ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Ravensburg Towerstars in the DEL2 since May 2018 . Dronia owns the Polish German citizenship, so that it does not burden the foreign contingent.
Career
Club
Paweł Dronia began his career in the Silesian city of Sosnowiec in the youth academy of the Polish ice hockey association Szkoła Mistrzostwa Sportowego , for whose team he played in the second-class I league . From there, the defender went to the neighboring Ekstraliga club Zagłębie Sosnowiec in 2007 . After three years there, he moved to Aksam Unia Oświęcim . Although the team was in third place this season , he left the Auschwitz team after a year and signed a contract with the reigning cup winner KH Sanok . The change immediately paid off for the team from the Subcarpathian region : Sanok was not only able to defend the cup victory with Dronia, but also to win the Polish championship title for the first time in the club's history.
For the 2013/14 season he moved to the Schwenninger Wild Wings, who played in the German Ice Hockey League again by purchasing the Hanover Scorpions license . After a year he left the team from Baden-Württemberg and was signed by the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven from the DEL2 , with whom he stayed for two years. From 2016 he played for league competitor Löwen Frankfurt , with whom he won the DEL2 in 2017.
Dronia has been under contract with the Ravensburg Towerstars since May 2018 .
International
For Poland, Dronia took part in the junior division I of the U18 World Junior Championship in 2006 and 2007 , in which he - despite being a defender - was top scorer, as well as the U20 World Junior Championship in 2007 , 2008 and 2009 .
In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in Division I in 2008 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2016 and 2018 . In 2013, he was voted the best defensive player in Group B Division I. In the same year, as in 2014 and 2016 again, he was the top scorer among the defensive players. In 2016, he was also elected to the tournament's All-Star Team. He also played for Poland in the Olympic qualification for the Games in Vancouver 2010 , Sochi 2014 and Pyeongchang 2018 .
