Thomas Merl (born January 29, 1992 in Bad Tölz ) is a German ice hockey player who has been under contract with Ravensburg Towerstars in the DEL2 since 2018 .

Career

Thomas Merl started his ice hockey career in his hometown Bad-Tölz. For the U18 team of the EC Bad Tölz located there , he was on the ice for the first time in the 2007/08 DNL season. In this 2007/08 season Merl was able to record 47 scorer points (21 goals, 26 assists) in 36 games. In the 2009/10 season, the left shooter completed his first games with the first team of the Tölzer Löwen, which play in the major league . Merl completed his last three games for the Tölzer DNL team in the playoffs of the 2010/11 season, where he was only on the ice once in the main round for the DNL team, and from then until 2013 he only played in the first team . There he was able to show a points account with a total of more than 30 scorer points every season.

For the 2013/14 season Merl should actually move to Hanover to the Scorpions . However, they sold their DEL license and so the EHC Red Bull Munich did not hesitate long and signed Merl for two seasons. During the 2013/14 season, Merl was able to score 12 scorer points for the EHC in 32 games. He also played two games on loan for the second team of the Munich cooperation partner EC Salzburg . In these he was able to score one goal and two assists in three games, a total of three points.

In August 2014 Merl received a sponsorship license and was then eligible to play in the DEL2 for the cooperation partner of the EHC Munich, the SC Riessersee . Between 2015 and 2018 Merl played for the Kassel Huskies in the DEL2 and won the DEL2 championship with the Huskies in 2016.

International

For Germany , Merl took part in the U18 Junior World Championship of Division IB 2010 and the U20 Junior World Championship of Division IA 2012 .
