In particular in the upper league season 2005/06 , the left-handed shooter scored 50 points in 46 games , making him the most successful German and U20 junior of his team and was obliged by the then 2nd division team Eisbären Regensburg for the 2006/07 season .

In his first 2nd league season Driendl was able to achieve 18 points and was also active in the following season for East Bavaria . In this 2007/08 season there was a cooperation agreement between Regensburg and the DEL representative at the time, Hamburg Freezers , through which Driendl was given a funding license and there were four DEL games for the Freezers this season .

For the 2008/09 season , the attacker finally moved to the top German league and joined the Krefeld Penguins together with his Regensburg trainer Igor Pavlov . Driendl was on the ice for the following 8 seasons for the Niederrhein club and was able to score 172 points (74 goals) in 418 DEL and 10 CHL games. His personally most successful season was the 2012/13 season in which he was able to contribute 42 points to the 3rd place in the main round table as well as reaching the playoff semifinals of the penguins.

In 2016, for personal reasons, he decided to move to the vicinity of Füssen , where his children live, and ultimately signed a three-year contract with SC Riessersee from the DEL2 . In his first season for the Garmisch-Partenkirchen club , he was the most successful player with 41 points and 23 goals. In the 2017/18 season he reached the play-off final of the DEL2 with the SCR. He was personally named Player of the Year and Striker of the Year for the DEL2 .
