Leszek Laszkiewicz (born August 11, 1978 in Jastrzębie-Zdrój ) is a Polish ice hockey player who has been under contract with the JKH GKS Jastrzębie in the Ekstraliga since November 2013 . His brother Daniel Laszkiewicz is also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Leszek Laszkiewicz began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of JKH GKS Jastrzębie . From there he moved to SMS I Sosnowiec , for whose professional team "Olimpia" he made his adult debut in the East European Hockey League . From 1997 to 1999 the winger played for the Nürnberg Ice Tigers in the German Ice Hockey League . For the 1999/2000 season he returned to his Polish homeland and played for KTH Krynica . He then spent two years at Aksam Unia Oświęcim . With the team he won the Polish championship title twice in a row . For the 2002/03 season he succeeded in jumping into the Czech extra league , in which he spent most of the season at HC Vítkovice before finishing it at HC Femax Havířov .

In the 2003/04 season Laszkiewicz came again for Aksam Unia Oświęcim in the Ekstraliga. With the team he won the national championship again. In the following season he was under contract with HC Milano Vipers from the Italian A1 series . With the team from Milan he immediately became Italian champion and also won the Coppa Italia . After the successful year abroad, he switched to KS Cracovia . With Cracovia he won the Polish championship five more times in 2006, 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2013. He himself developed into one of the star players in the Ekstraliga at Cracovia and was top scorer several times. After the fifth championship title with Cracovia, Laszkiewicz switched back to KTH Krynica in 2013 , who had returned from the I league to the Ekstraliga that year . After this got into financial problems, Laszkiewicz dissolved his contract there and went to the JKH GKS Jastrzębie .

International

For Poland, Laszkiewicz first took part in the junior division in the U18 Junior B European Championships in 1995 and 1996 , and in 1996 he was also elected to the All-Star team as the top scorer and goal scorer of the tournament. This was followed by participation in the U20 Junior World Championship in 1997 and the U20 Junior B World Championship in 1998 .

In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the B World Championships in 1998 , 1999 and 2000 . At the 2001 World Cup , he and his team won the Group A tournament in Division I, winning the title and thus the first promotion to the top division in ten years. There the Poles were able to take second place behind Slovenia in the relegation round after victories over Italy (5: 1) and Japan (5: 2) , but still had to go to the second division together with the Italians, because the Far East was due According to the regulations at that time, a place in the top division was due and the Japanese team did not have to relegate despite the last place.

At the World Championships in 2003 , 2004 , 2005 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 and 2015 , Laszkiewicz played again with Poland in Division I, where he was the team's captain in 2010 and 2011. In 2012 he was the second best scorer in Group B of Division I after teammate Marcin Kolusz and was also elected to the All-Star Team of this tournament. In addition, together with Kolusz and the South Korean Kim Won-jung , he was the second best scorer behind the Dutchman Diederick Hagemeijer and behind Kolusz the second best preparer of the tournament. In 2014, together with Donatas Kumeliauskas from Lithuania, he was the second best goalscorer of the tournament behind the British Colin Shields and thus contributed significantly to the promotion of the Poles from the B group of Division I to the A group. He was also on the ice at the qualifying tournaments for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , 2010 in Vancouver and 2014 in Sochi .
