Jamey Jasta (* 7. August 1977 ), actually James Shanahan , is an American Metal - hardcore - and sludge - singer from New Haven , Connecticut .

Jamey Jasta was initially a roadie for the band Integrity before he was best known as the lead singer of the band Hatebreed . He was later a singer with Kingdom of Sorrow , which he founded in 2005 with Kirk Windstein , whom he had known since the early 1990s. He also sang in the hardcore band Icepick , with whom he released the album Violent Epiphany in 2006 on his own label Stillborn Records . In July 2011 his solo debut Jasta was released by Century Media .

Jasta was also from 2003 moderator of the MTV2 telecast Headbangers Ball . In 2007 Jasta presented the Metal Hammer Golden God Awards . Together with guitarist Wayne Lozinack, he also performed a tribute song for Deftones bassist Chi Cheng , which was produced by Korn bassist Reginald Arvizu aka Fieldy.
