James Gregory "Jamie" Arniel (born November 16, 1989 in Kingston , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Bozen in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League since 2019 .
His uncle Scott was also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
Jamie Arniel began his career as a hockey player in his hometown with the Kingston Voyageurs, for which he was active in the 2004/05 season in the Ontario Junior Hockey League . From 2005 to 2009 the center played in Canada's top junior league, the Ontario Hockey League, for the Guelph Storm and Sarnia Sting . During this period he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2008 in the fourth round as a total of 97th player by the Boston Bruins .
For their farm team Providence Bruins from the American Hockey League , he made his professional ice hockey debut towards the end of the 2008/09 season when he scored a goal in eight games in the AHL playoffs. In the following three years he was a regular with the Providence Bruins in the AHL, while he came only to a single use for the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League .
In the 2012/13 season Arniel played for the Eisbären Berlin in the German Ice Hockey League and became German champion with them at the end of the season . After a try-out at Rauman Lukko in Finland, where he was engaged from the end of August and left the team on September 18, 2013 after three league appearances, he moved to Austria. When Dornbirner EC in the Erste Bank Hockey League , he signed at the end of November 2013 a contract since August 2013 working for the Bulldogs Brendan Brooks had to leave the club to make room for Arniel.
In June 2018, Arniel left the Bulldogs after five years and switched to league rivals Vienna Capitals . After being injured, Arniel was signed off and joined the Augsburg Panthers in February 2019 .
In the summer of 2019, Arniel signed with HC Bozen .
International
For Canada , Arniel took part in the 2007 U18 World Junior Championship .
