Luca Frigo (born May 30, 1993 in Moncalieri ) is an Italian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Bozen in the Austrian ice hockey league since 2016 .

Career

Luca Frigo began his career at HC Valpellice , for whom he made his Serie A debut at the age of 16 . In 2012 he was drawn by the Omaha Lancers in the USHL Entry Draft in the second round in 27th place and so he played for the following two years for the team from the Western Conference of the United States Hockey League , the most important junior league in the US Ice Hockey. In 2014 he returned to Valpellice, where he was again on the ice in Serie A for a year. After spending the 2015/16 season at Kallinge / Ronneby IF in the Swedish Hockeyettan , he joined HC Bozen in the Austrian Ice Hockey League in 2016 , where he has been under contract ever since. In 2018 he won the Austrian ice hockey league with the club .

International

In the junior division, Frigo played for Italy at the U18 World Championships 2010 in Division II and 2011 in Division I and at the U20 World Championships in 2011 and 2013 in Division I. He also took part in the 2013 Winter Universiade in Trentino .

Frigo made his first international matches in the men's national team in the 2013/14 season. He made his world championship debut in 2015 in Division I, where he also played in 2016 . After promotion in 2016, he played in the 2017 World Cup in the top division, where the Italians could not hold up. He also represented his colors in qualifying for the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang 2018 .
