Stefano Marchetti (born November 10, 1986 in Trento ) is an Italian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Bozen in the EBEL since 2017 .

Career

Stefano Marchetti began his career as an ice hockey player at SHC Fassa , for whose professional team he was active in the A1 series from 2002 to 2009 . He then spent two years with his league rivals SG Pontebba . For the 2011/12 season , the defender was signed by the reigning champions Asiago Hockey . With the team from Veneto he won the Italian Championship in 2013 and 2015 and the Supercup in 2013 . In the 2016/17 season he played for the club in the newly founded Alps Hockey League .

Marchetti has been under contract with HC Bozen in the EBEL since 2017 .

International

For Italy Marchetti took part in the junior division in Division I of the U18 World Junior Championships in 2004 and the Division I tournaments of the U20 World Junior Championships in 2005 and 2006 .

In the senior sector, he was in the squad for the first time in February 2009 in Riga for the Olympic qualification for the games in Vancouver , but after defeats against Latvia (1: 4) and Ukraine (2: 3), they only won one victory against Hungary (4 : 1) missed the jump to the final tournament. It was more successful for him at the World Cup in the same year when the Azzurri won the Division I tournament in Toruń, Poland , and were able to move up to the top division. In the top division he was in the Italian squad in the title fights in 2010 and 2012 , but without being able to prevent relegation. At the Division I World Cup in Budapest in 2013 , he was again in the Italian squad and, thanks to a 2-1 win against the hosts, rose with his team back into the top division. In 2015 and 2016 he was again on the ice in Division I. He also represented his colors in the Olympic qualification for the Winter Games in Pyeongchang 2018 .
