Anton Bernard (born April 18, 1989 in Bolzano ) is an Italian ice hockey player who has been playing for HC Bozen since 2010, initially in Serie A1 and since 2013 in the Austrian ice hockey league . His brother Andreas Bernard is also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Anton Bernard began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of SV Kaltern . In 2005 he moved to Starbulls Rosenheim , for whose juniors he was active in the German junior league from 2005 to 2007 . From 2006 to 2008 he also played for the senior team of the club in the ice hockey league , the third German division. For the 2008/09 season , the winger returned to his hometown and played there for HC Bozen in Serie A1 . With this he immediately won the Coppa Italia and the Italian championship . The following season he spent in North America in the junior team Valley Jr. Warriors from the Eastern Junior Hockey League. At the end of the season he was elected to the league's All-Star Team.

In the summer of 2010, Bernard rejoined HC Bozen, with whom he was again Italian champion in the 2011/12 season . At the beginning of the following season he and his team also won the Supercoppa Italiana . In 2013 he moved with his club to the Austrian ice hockey league , which he was the first non-Austrian club to win with the South Tyroleans in the first year.

International

For Italy , Bernard took part in the junior division at the U18 World Junior Championship Division II 2006 , the U18 Junior World Championship Division I 2007 , the U20 Junior World Championship Division II 2008 , so he was the tournament's top scorer together with Marco Insam , as well as the U20 Junior World Championships in Division I in 2007 and 2009 , when he was voted best player on his team.

In the senior division, he was in his country's squad at the 2012 , 2014 and 2017 World Championships in the top division and in 2013 , 2015 and 2016 in division I. He also represented his colors at the qualifying tournaments for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and Pyeongchang 2018 .
