Stefano Luigi Giliati (born October 7, 1987 in Montréal , Québec ) is an Italian - Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Bozen in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League since August 2019 .
Career
Giliati began his career in the 2002/03 season with the West Islands Lions in the Canadian Junior League QMAAA , where he was on the ice for two seasons. In the 2004/05 season he played for the Lewiston MAINEiacs in the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec , before moving to the Lewiston MAINEiacs the following year within the league. In spring 2008, the attacker from was Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League is committed, but over the following two and a half years only for their farm team Toronto Marlies in the American Hockey League and at times for the Reading Royals in the East Coast Hockey League used . In August 2010 Giliati was transferred to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Matt Lashoff , but was only used again in the AHL for the Norfolk Admirals farm team in the 2010/11 season .
In summer 2011 Giliati decided to move to Europe and ran in the 2011/12 season for the Italian first division club HC Bozen , with whom he was able to win the championship . Due to his good offensive performance, he was able to recommend himself for a contract with the Finnish club SaiPa , for which he was on the ice in two seasons in the Liiga from 2012 to 2014 and in the meantime also played two games on loan for the second division SaPKo . For the 2014/15 season , the left-handed player moved to Espoo Blues within the league before signing a contract with KHL Medveščak Zagreb from the Continental Hockey League in July 2015 . In October 2016 he moved to Schwenninger Wild Wings after completing an unsuccessful try-out at HC Davos . After three years with the Schwenninger Wild Wings, he returned to Switzerland to join the SCL Tigers .
Giliati returned to Italy in August 2019 when he signed a one-year contract with HC Bozen.
