The 1.88 m tall defender began his career in the support program of the US ice hockey association USA Hockey and then moved to the Kitchener Rangers in the Canadian top junior league Ontario Hockey League . In the 2005 NHL Entry Draft , the left-handed shooter was finally selected as 22nd in the first round by the Boston Bruins .

From Boston Lashoff was used from the end of the 2005/06 season mainly with the Providence Bruins , the farm team in the American Hockey League , but on October 26, 2006 he also made his NHL debut for the Boston Bruins. On December 31, 2007, the defensive player finally scored his first goal in the top North American professional league in the game against the Atlanta Thrashers . In August 2010 he was transferred from the Tampa Bay Lightning to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for Alex Berry and Stefano Giliati .

In the following two seasons Lashoff was mainly on the ice for their AHL farm team Toronto Marlies regularly. A knee injury sustained in October 2011 in an AHL game against the Lake Erie Monsters limited the defender's playing time to just nine games in the regular season. In the subsequent playoffs Lashoff held the office of assistant captain and reached the final series of the Calder Cup with the Marlies , but lost to the Norfolk Admirals with a sweep .

In August 2012, the Americans initially participated in a try-out of the ZSC Lions of the Swiss National League A part. After three weeks, he signed a one-year contract with Zurich. The 2013/14 season completed Lashoff at the Swedish first division club Leksands IF before he was on the ice for Metallurg Novokuznetsk in the Continental Hockey League the following season . After his contract there was terminated in December 2014, he returned to North America and joined the Bridgeport Sound Tigers from the AHL in January 2015 . On March 3, 2015, he was given in exchange for Dyson Stevenson to the Portland Pirates . For the 2015/16 season Lashoff moved to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms .

In February 2016, the Adler Mannheim signed the German ice hockey league Lashoff until the end of the 2015/16 season .

In the 2016/17 season he first played for San Antonio Rampage in the AHL, at the beginning of February 2017 he moved to the SCL Tigers in the National League A.
