Blaine Down (born July 16, 1982 in Oshawa , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with the EC VSV from the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League .

Career

Blaine Down began his career as a hockey player with the Barrie Colts , for whom he was active from 1999 to 2002 in the Ontario Hockey League , and with whom he won the 2000 J. Ross Robertson Cup as an OHL champion. He then played for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the American Hockey League for three years before moving to SV Ritten-Renon in the Italian Serie A in the summer of 2005 . With the South Tyroleans he was Italian runner-up in the following season. The attacker then stayed in Europe, where he initially played for two years in the Danish AL-Bank Ligaen with the Herning Blue Fox . In the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons Down won the Danish championship before moving to the ZSC Lions from the Swiss National League A before the 2008/09 season. He was used in all seven CHL games for the Zurich team, whom he supported in winning the Champions Hockey League . In the national championship but he played exclusively at Zurich's farm team , the GCK Lions of the National League B . In the further course of his four-year stay in Zurich, he also went to the NLA and won the Swiss championship title with the ZSC Lions in 2012.

On June 12, 2012, the Straubing Tigers from the German Ice Hockey League announced the commitment of Blaine Down, where he initially received a one-year contract. After he had already signed another contract for the 2013/14 season, Down extended his contract with the Straubing Tigers until 2016 on November 19, 2013. After the 2015/16 season , Down and the Straubing Tigers parted ways after four Seasons in Lower Bavaria. He then signed an annual contract with league competitor Iserlohn Roosters .
