geography
Headwaters
The Brunnisach arises about one kilometer southwest of Markdorf - Hepbach on the protected Hepbacher-Leimbacher Ried at about 436 m above sea level. NHN from the confluence of the right Entengraben and the left Langenwiesengraben . The Entengraben , which is longer and also richer in catchment area, drains the up to over 740 m above sea level. NHN high south-east drop of the Gehrenberg approximately southwards, while the Langenwiesengraben, which is smaller in both respects, has an outflow of at most 490 m above sea level. NHN high hill country in the south.
course
From its origin, the Brunnisach initially flows westwards to behind Markdorf- Leimbach , where it turns at the tributary of the Muldenbach from the north on a longer approximate southward course . On this it flows between the Markdorf town of Markdorf in the east and the Friedrichshafen hamlet of Lipbach in the west, then touches Kluftern on the west bank and Efrizweiler on the east in Friedrichshafen . At last it flows out at 395 m above sea level. NHN in the port of Fischbach in Lake Constance .
On the 10.1 km between its confluence and its mouth, the Brunnisach falls by about 41 meters in altitude, which corresponds to a mean bed gradient of only about 0.4 ‰.
Catchment area
The Brunnisach has a catchment area of 24.5 km², its highest point near the source of the Muldenbach tributary at 754.3 m above sea level. NHN high summit of Gehrenberg is located. From a natural point of view, it belongs to the entire sub -area of Lake Constance-Jungmoränenland of the Subalpine Jungmoränenland .
Data
The Brunnisach is on average one meter wide, its flow speed is 0.3 m / s.
Water correction and renaturation
The Brunnisach was straightened in the 1880s on the districts of Markdorf , Riedheim, Lipbach , Kluftern and Efrizweiler . In this area the brook flowed in a straightened brook bed for 100 years before a meandering natural brook was restored in the course of a renaturation on a short section near Lettenhof below the village of Riedheim and the construction and regulation of brooks were prohibited by legal requirements of water protection , the Brunnisach gradually creates a natural stream again. The Brunnisach has been contaminated several times with liquid manure from the surrounding agriculture, microorganisms in the water have been killed and the habitat for fish has been destroyed due to a lack of food. After such pollution, the creek takes more than a decade to recover. Various cleaning actions by local clubs and schools freed the water from rubbish and other pollution. The actions ran under the term “Puzete” (for example in 2005 by the Kluftern elementary school).
fishing
The Brunnisach has a few fish stocks ( lake trout , chub , grayling , barbel and other white fish ). Young fish in particular are often in this water body, as there is enough food available. In summer, however , fishing is hardly possible because the stream then carries very little water. Also due to the numerous ecological accidents it was not possible to cultivate the Brunnisach for a while. The Angelsportverein (ASV) Friedrichshafen cultivates the river over a length of three kilometers.
Arts and Culture
The Brunnisach itself is part of the Kluftern circular route . This circular route includes an art route with sculptures on the subject of a gate. The "Weidentor" was erected on a bridge over the Brunnisach at Lettenhof and the blue arch "Brunnisach" was erected in front of the Lettenstrasse railway underpass.
The fools' guild Fischbach is named after the Brunnisach , the Brunnisach witches .
