Career

Julian Talbot began his career as a hockey player with the Ottawa 67’s , for which he was active in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League from 2002 to 2006 . In his last two seasons for the 67's in particular, he was one of the players with the highest points on his team and reached the play-off final in the 2004/05 season in which they lost to the London Knights and qualified for the 2005 Memorial Cup .

After his junior years , the center joined the Alaska Aces from the ECHL for the 2006/07 season , for which his brother Joe had been active for several years. With the team from Anchorage he reached the play-off semi-finals, in which they lost to the later Kelly Cup winner Idaho Steelheads . Talbot was the best player of his team in the play-offs with 20 points and was elected to the league's all-rookie team for his performance over the entire season. He was also in seven games for the Providence Bruins from the American Hockey League on the ice.

For the following 2007/08 season he received an offer from the organization of the St. Louis Blues and played the entire season for their AHL team, the Peoria Rivermen . He was with 24 goals, together with Charles Linglet , the most successful goalscorer of his team and recommended himself for a contract extension with the Blues. After two more seasons with the Rivermen, he was transferred to the 2010/11 season for TJ Hensick at league rivals Lake Erie Monsters . For the Cleveland team , Talbot was the second-best scorer this season , behind Ben Walter .

For the 2011/12 season Talbot was signed by the then reigning champions of the German Ice Hockey League , the Eisbären Berlin . With more than 40 points in his first season, he was able to make his contribution to defending the title of the capital club, scoring the decisive third goal in the decisive play-off final game in the 3-1 win against Adler Mannheim . In the following season he was able to celebrate the championship again with the Berliners, with 19 points the best scorer in the entire league in the play-offs and in the decisive final in the 4: 1 against the Kölner Haie with 2 goals. Talbot was active for the polar bears for another 4 seasons, and in his last season 2016/17 he again reached the DEL Habfinals for the Berlin team and was the player with the best points in his team in the play-offs.

In the 2017/18 season he played for the Austrian record champions EC KAC in the Erste Bank ice hockey league .

In September 2018 he signed a contract with the DEL2 club Eispiraten Crimmitschau . In 67 competitive games for the Eispiraten, he scored 22 goals himself and prepared 39 more goals. With the club from West Saxony he was also able to qualify for the play-offs in this season 2018/19 , where he scored the decisive goal for the 2-1 victory in the decisive pre-play-off game against the Kassel Huskies . After an agreement had been reached for a contract extension in Crimmitschau for another season , he asked for a contract termination in October 2019 after a hand and back injury. Later in the season he then joined the Nottingham Panthers from the British ice hockey league EIHL .
