The Cape River is a river in the east of the Australian state of Queensland .

River course

The river has its source on the southern slopes of Mount Oxley on the northern edge of the White Mountains National Park and initially flows to the southeast. At the settlement of Cape River it crosses under the Flinders Highway and continues its way southeast to the settlement of Longton . There it turns its course to the east and crosses under the Gregory Developmental Road . At the settlement of Mount Elsie it turns north and flows ten kilometers further into Lake Dalrymple , and thus into the Burdekin River .
