Career

Bernhard Ebner began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of the EC Peiting , for which he played until he was a schoolboy. Then he moved to ESV Kaufbeuren in the school league, in which he was active until 2005. He then joined the SC Riessersee , for whose junior team he played in the German junior league from 2005 to 2008 . For the senior team of SC Riessersee, the defender also came to two appearances in the third-class ice hockey league in the 2006/07 season and in the following season to his first two appearances in the professional 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga , in which he was from 2008 to 2010 was a regular player for SC Riessersee. In the 2008/09 season he was also on the ice for the league club EC Peiting. From 2010 to 2012, the former junior international played for his ex-club ESV Kaufbeuren in the 2nd Bundesliga, where he developed into one of the leading players within the team.

For the 2012/13 season Ebner was signed by the Düsseldorfer EG from the German Ice Hockey League . Ebner benefited from the fact that DEG found itself in a financially difficult situation after the departure of the main sponsor "Metro" and therefore relied on young players. In its first two seasons, the DEG occupied the last place in the table. Ebner was able to convince and immediately became a regular player. In the 2012/13 season he was named DEL Rookie of the Year by the league . For the 2014/15 season, DEG signed Stephan Daschner , with whom Ebner has since formed one of the strongest German defense pairs in the league. In August 2015, Ebner extended his contract with DEG early until 2019.

International

For Germany , Ebner took part in the U18 World Junior Championship in 2008 . Ebner has been playing in the senior national team since 2013, with which he participated in the Olympic qualification for the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi .
